Sumant Jayakrishnan is a scenographer, designer, and installation artist. He works simultaneously across the genres of Theatre, Dance, Art, Film, Exhibition Design, Interiors, Music Festivals, Fashion and the fantastical world of events (including the Big Fat Indian Wedding).
With the award of NCBS (National Centre for Biological Sciences) Competition in Bangalore in 2006, the firm added a new building type to their repertoire i.e. of Research and Development facilities. With the completion of NCBS the firm has been involved in the design of various research institutions.
Some of Sumant’s projects include Deepa Mehta’s film “Water” (Art Direction), Tim Supple’s multilingual play “The Midsummer Nights Dream” (Stage and Costume Design), the The India Art Fair (Venue and Installation Design) and the India Pavilion (Chakraview) at the London Design Biennale, 2016.
Sumant has designed Music Festivals such as NH7, The Big Chill (Goa and the UK), Bhakti Utsav, and also the Lady Gaga show as part of the Indian Formula One. Recent wedding projects abroad have included weddings in Italy (Florence, Puglia, Capri and Venice), Turkey (Istanbul), Kenya (Mombasa), the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi), Hungary (Budapest) and the UK (London).
