Arya Architects

Arya Architects positions itself in the critical space of public architecture. Comprising architects, Meghal and Vijay Arya, graduates of the School of Architecture, Ahmedabad with post graduation from Georgia Institute of Technology and Helsinki University of Technology respectively, the firm started in 1999 and has since established itself as a practice that engages with the challenges of the contemporary ethos of India as a growing economy, along with an acknowledgement of its valuable traditions.
The office has spanned a range of works from the master plan of a zoological park, a sports complex to a small bus shelters. Their concern for architecture in the public domain emerges out of a critical discourse on quality, dignity and inclusiveness of the spaces.
Recipients of several awards for their work in the public realm, the projects are characterized by a drive for innovation and exploration. Their work is grounded in the belief that the value that any society places on making of its public spaces is an important measure of the development of that society, a point evidenced through history.
Described as one of the brightest emerging architectural practices in India by Wallpaper* UK, it is seen as a value based practice, contributing towards raising benchmarks in design in the country. In the short span of a decade, the practice has sustained its quality output through a process that depends on research, analysis and finally timely deliverables.
