Prof. Miki Desai retired from CEPT University as the head of the Masters Program in Sustainable Architecture, the Faculty of Architecture, Ahmedabad after teaching there for 33 years. His firm ARCHICRAFTS is a research and documentation studio.
Miki has had the EARTHWATCH grant, a Fulbright Fellowship, the Graham Grant and the Getty Collaborative Grant. He is the co-author of 3 books on Indian architecture and is the author of an exhibition catalogue. He has held exhibitions at the Rietberge Museum, Zurich in 1990 and at the Sanskar Kendra, Ahmedabad in 2012, in addition to contributing a chapter and a wooden model to an exhibition travelling to 6 German speaking countries in 1995. Recently he was a visiting scholar in the College of Environmental Design at the University of California at Berkeley.

TITLE – "Design or Perish!"
The talk will outlay personal interpretations of design as an act and a product in the socio-cultural context of India. It will be illustrated with examples of objects and buildings that either pose questions or create enigma and curiosity towards the issues of design.
