Colombo based Palinda Kannangara’s Architecture focuses on aesthetic and spatial exploration within contemporary Sri Lankan context. His practice accepts the realities of scenery without hesitating to challenge it and respects tradition without being restricted by it. Drawn to a minimalistic design vocabulary which is very much a part of Sri Lankan ethos, his Architecture is informed by his background in Mathematics and Art.
Palinda has degrees in Mathematics (University of Colombo) and Architecture (Sri Lanka Institute of Architects). He was awarded a commendation during the 1st Cycle Geoffrey Bawa Award. He is a recipient of the 22nd AYA Award (Focus Countries) for his recent project, a Leisure Pavilion in Colombo.
